Officially known as the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park, we usually refer to it as the ‘towpath’ or just the ‘C&O.’ No matter what we call it, we spend a lot of time there throughout the year either biking, walking, exploring, or cleaning up our assigned level.
We’re members of the C &O Canal Association and volunteer to clean up Level 52, which covers a 4.34 mile stretch between Sideling Hill Aqueduct and 15 Mile Creek Aqueduct.
We biked the entire length of the towpath during the summers of 2009 & 2011 in three days each time. What an adventure! You don’t have to walk or bike the full length of the trail to take advantage of what the C&O offers. The C&O Canal trail is a perfect place for families, walkers, bikers, nature lovers, history buffs, and outdoor enthusiasts of any type!
We invite you to stop by occasionally to see what we’ve been up to….we’re looking forward to sharing our adventures on the C&O with you!
